This dataset contains trail difficulty information for designated OSMP Trails. This follows standards set by the Architectural Barriers Act Section 1017.10 which states that "trail information signs at trailheads shall include the following: 1. Length of the trail or trail segment; 2. Surface type; 3. Typical and minimum tread width; 4. Typical and maximum running slope; and 5. Typical and maximum cross slope."
Values are derived from the HETAP measurments collected during surveys by the trails research coordinator. Trails are surveyed every 5 years and at the end of each year, analysis is run to derive the difficulty information. Each trail segement (junction to junction) is evaulated individually and has attributes related to cross-slope, width, grade, cross-slope and surface type. There is one final attribute for difficulty with a percentage and a categorized value. This information is displayed in a web application (https://maps.bouldercolorado.gov/websites/osmp/UniversalAccess/). |
