Service Description: This dataset contains point features of data collection locations used for visitation related research, which is primarily conducted by OSMP's Human Dimensions (HD) Program. The HD Program collects visitation related data across OSMP lands using a variety of automated sensors, in person surveys, and observational methods. Prior to 2019, data collection locations were managed separately in a variety of spatial and non-spatial formats on a project-by-project basis, making it difficult to comprehensively assess the distribution and history of data collection efforts. This dataset defines a common schema to store all types of point based data collection locations for the HD Program.
Attributes for this feature class should be largely invariable over time, only containing information pertaining to the physical location, type of collection, installation and removal dates for the location. Associated data, such as maintenance and site visit events are stored in separate tables. Raw and summary data (counts, observations, surveys, etc.) are stored in non-spatial tables and can be joined or related as needed to query additional attributes for these locations.
